WOYWW-ATC's and 888,246 poppies!

Hello everyone and welcome,

Glad to be back after the half term, we visited family near Oxford and there was much love and laughter. Just what I needed! We visited the Tower of London to see the now famous Poppies or Blood swept Lands and Seas of Red to give it it's proper name.

It really was very moving, to stand and to realise that each of the ceramic poppies represented a solider who was killed in WW1, 888, 246 to be precise. We enjoyed lunch on the embankment overlooking the Thames and then I found my way back to Marleybone train station on the tube! Not bad for a girl from the sticks!

We also had a beautiful walk in Wendover woods. Who said "there's no such thing as a Gruffalo?"

What fun we had! The children willingly and patiently posed for me while I tried out my camera!

Anyway back to crafty things……. ATC's made for our A-Z challenge. The beautiful stamps are from Inkylicious.

Another initial made for a colleague…… only 2 more to go!

A canvas covered with fabric and then painted/stamped chipboard letters added. Ready for the Christmas fayre.

I am home alone this week as dear Hubby is away and I last night I found myself standing out in the pitch dark garden (spooky rustlings going on in the trees) taking photos of the moon!

Hmmmmmm…. enough said… thank you for staying with me 'til the end of my meanderings...

Have a happy week..

Lynda X

  3. I am going back to the Tower on Saturday to see the Poppies as they near their completion; it is such a wonderful tribute to the fallen....
You've been very busy elsewhere too, and I love the moon shots! Helen 3

  10. Looks like you had fun over haft term! We only took a day trip and we picked the wrong day - it was raining and the garden/stately home we wanted to visit was closed! So it was a bit of a disaster! Glad it's over and everything is back to normal! Love the poppies - they're now talking about leaving them there for a year. I'd like to see them. They look impressive even on the telly - they must be stunning in real life! Have a graet week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #42

  11. Hi Lynda, the Poppies are an amazing sight, aren't they? Loving all the crafts you've been doing, and those shots of the moon are awesome. My first thought was they would look fab reproduced with inks and a few twiggy/leafy stamps, lol. Would be lovely to meet up with you both on Saturday to say Hi, if you get time, send me an e-mail, links in my sidebar, and I will send you my mobile number, you can text me sometime during the day then?Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #14

  13. Thank you for sharing the poppies photos. Not living in britain means I can't go and see them. Half term for us means we usually have a grandchild or two visiting. So it's been a busy time for us too.
Love your blue card with umbrella. Do you make a masterboard first?
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder.
    Have a good week.

  15. What a fantastic post! I would have loved to see the poppies! Love all the things you've been making too! As for the moon pics - hubby and I went out today and came from a country park just as the moon was rising - spent 15 minutes driving along and stopping for different shots!!! Chris57

  16. We aren't going to make it to the poppies, so glad you have. I'd say your new camera and you are good friends - the pics are really good. And that's what happens when your other half goes away...you stay up till all hours doing strange things!!
