Still standing

Hi everyone and welcome to WOYWW

Well....back this week after catching a nasty throat bug but have been quite busy at my workdesk.

Inspiration didn't leave me and in fact kept me quite busy so I tried to ignore my horrible symptoms. I was most unwholesome!
I have had time to think a lot about stuff this week.   About how you can be sailing along secure in the knowledge that all is well with your world and then in a spilt second, something happens and your life is changed forever. You have had no say in this and you then have to, from somewhere, find the strength to keep going. I am sure many of you have had such moments (although I sincerely hope you haven't.)  A phone call changed my world this week seven years ago when I was told my daughter had died.  Where do we find that strength to carry on? Years later can we marvel at ourselves that we are still standing?
If you are still standing, or trying desperately to get up, well done you. Give yourself a GREAT BIG HUG :-)

I found this quote by american Elizabeth Shaw and just knew I had to make a journal page.

This just captures my mood at the moment.

I used Distress inks to create the background and cut out the silhouette from an image I found on the computer. I painted the bottom black and added some reeds and grasses cut from black paper. The white rub on letters were not for the faint hearted and took me ages to put on!!  I am very pleased with the result and it's the first completed page in the big dylusions journal. (Remember the one I kept ripping pages out of!)
I also made 3 ACTs, another first, to give away to my friends this week.

I so enjoyed making these and I will definetly be making some more.
Well.... I'll leave you with another quote I found this week that is going to be a page in my journal.  Keep strong and have a happy week...
and I'd like to share this picture with you of my beautiful daughter Katy
"We don't know how strong we are...
until strong is the only choice we have"

  1. Hi there from Malta! Glad you feeling on the mend! Thinking of you as you face this week's anniversary & glad that you find your journal a safe haven for your feelings! Just busy doing nothing here! See you when we get home Ali xxx

  2. I cannot even imagine that I would have the strength to deal with such a blow. I am glad that have faced this with such poise and reflection. You are inspiring. :-) April #131

  3. So sorry to hear you lost your daughter, nothing can take the hurt away

  4. Hi Lynda, your post is very poignant to me, though I cannot imagine how devastating the loss of a child must be. Love the quote, its amazing how words can capture a feeling, and thank you for sharing the lovely picture of Katy. Hope you have given yourself a hug.
    Sending you hugs

  5. Hi Lynda,
Love the quote, and I have found it to be very ture. Anniversaries of a death are just a repeat of "that" day, the pain never goes away, it may weaken over the span of time. You do have my deepest sympathy. But you are a strong woman

  6. I cannot imagine how hard this must have been for you, those split seconds that change your life forever are so scary and oh so hard. I love the quote, and hugs for you for adjusting your sails. OK, I am asking my WOYWW folks to rally behind me and I truly need your support. I am in a contest and the voting ends today so it's now or never. PLEASE go vote for me, yes, I am begging, lol http://www.genuinelyjanestudios.com/genuinelyblog/gjs-design-a-book-contest-top-three-finalists-announced/
